Individual Author:

Individual Author:
Jacknowitz, Alison
Snelling, Anastasia
Brannegan, Andrew
Maroto, Maya
Waxman, Elaine

This presentation describes a study, using a convenience sample from 8 school food pantries, that examined which participant- and pantry-level characteristics predicted school pantry use and higher participation levels. Findings included that female caregivers were more likely to use food pantry services and that receipt of food that is normally what the client eats was associated with more frequent food pantry use.

This presentation was given at the 2013 National Association of Welfare Research and Statistics (NAWRS) Annual Workshop.

The state Earned Income Tax Credit and savings behavior

Individual Author:
Vinopal, Katie

This presentation describes a study that examined whether a more generous Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) would increase the ability of low-income families to save.  The sample consisted of low-income single mothers across states with varying EITC policies. There was no real evidence that families in states with more generous EITC programs had greater savings.

This presentation was given at the 2013 National Association of Welfare Research and Statistics (NAWRS) Annual Workshop.
