The 2000 green book: Background material and data on programs within the jurisdiction of the Committee on Ways and Means

National School Lunch and Child Nutrition Act of 1966 Amendments of 1975

This statute amended the National School Lunch and Child Nutrition Acts. Most notably, it took pilot programs for the School Breakfast Program and the Special Supplemental Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) and made them permanent. It also extended those programs to cover people who had not been previously eligible.

Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act

Economic Opportunity Act

This statute established a number of programs to improve the self-sufficiency of the poor, including Job Corps and other work training programs, community action programs to fight poverty at a local level, adult basic education programs, and Vista, a youth community service program. It also created loan programs for farms and small businesses, and pilot work-experience programs.

Social Security Act, Title XX: Block Grants to States for Social Services and Elder Justice
