Description: The University of Michigan Health and Retirement Study (HRS) is a longitudinal panel study that explores the changes in labor force participation and the health transitions that individuals undergo toward the end of their work lives and in the years that follow.

Population: Survey administered to approximately 22,000 Americans over age 50, every two years, beginning in 1992. New cohorts added every six years.

Periodicity: Data collected every 2 years, 1992-2016 (next collection in 2020). Data up through 2016 is available.
