Description: The National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) collects data on a broad range of health topics through personal household interviews.
Population: Sampling plans are redesigned after every decennial census; current data is based on 2006 redesign. Personal household interviews are conducted with nationally representative sample of ~35,000 households, accounting for ~87,500 persons of all ages.
Periodicity: Significantly revised survey administered 1997-present. Data available through 2017 collection period.
