Abstract:

This presentation describes a study that examined whether a more generous Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) would increase the ability of low-income families to save.  The sample consisted of low-income single mothers across states with varying EITC policies. There was no real evidence that families in states with more generous EITC programs had greater savings.

This presentation was given at the 2013 National Association of Welfare Research and Statistics (NAWRS) Annual Workshop.
